Candle Care

Candle care is crucial for maintaining a positive and lasting aromatic experience. Proper care, including trimming the wick, using a wick dipper, and keeping the wax pool clean, ensures that candles burn evenly and emit a pleasant fragrance. This not only enhances the ambiance but also prolongs the overall lifespan of the candle. Regular attention to candle care prevents issues like uneven burning, excessive smoke, and unpleasant odors, contributing to a safer and more enjoyable experience for candle enthusiasts.

Before Lighting

  •  Before lighting, ensure the wick is trimmed to ¼ inch to prevent uneven burning, dripping, or flaring.

  • Always use a heat-resistant, sturdy candleholder, placing it on a stable surface to contain any drips.

  • Burn candles in well-ventilated rooms, away from drafts, vents, or air currents to avoid issues like rapid burning or sooting.

  • Keep the wax pool clear of trimmings and debris, and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on burn time and proper use.

While Burning

  • Never touch a burning candle, especially votives or container candles with liquefied wax.

  • Discontinue burning when 2 inches of wax remain (1/2 inch for container candles).

  • Space burning candles at least three inches apart to prevent melting or improper burning.

  • Extinguish a candle with a high or flickering flame, trim the wick, and check for drafts before relighting.

  • Always keep candles within sight, extinguishing them before leaving the room.

  • Burn candles in well-ventilated spaces, avoiding overuse in small or confined areas.

When Extinguishing

  • Use a candle snuffer for a safe extinguishing experience, preventing hot wax splatter.

  • Avoid using water, as it may cause splattering and break glass containers.

  • Ensure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is not glowing before leaving the room.

  • Wait until the candle has cooled before touching or moving it, refraining from using sharp objects to remove wax drippings from glass holders to prevent breakage.

  • For a comprehensive list of candle safety rules, refer to the National Candle Association's guidelines.
